Trip home..

So I'm halfway through my summer break and with some spare time.. it's time to update :)
The trip back home did not seem nearly as arduous as the trip down. It was the same length of time but the excitement of getting back home to see friends and family made it fly by. It was also pretty fun because the first leg (Grenada to San Juan) I was accompanied by two school friends, Amar and Jodi. Amar also joined me from San Juan to Chicago and I journeyed the final bit Chicago to Toronto. It's so funny the things that you miss from home when you're away in a different country. Even familiar fast food chains and department stores become exciting. In the San Juan airport, we had our first American fast food... delicious and it was so surprising that we could buy food and have it prepared for us in less then 20 minutes.

Yumm...

I was lucky enough to have a longer layover in Toronto so I stayed with Colleen overnight. She has an adorable place with a perfect location right downtown. It was amazing to see her and what her new life in the big city is like. I'm hoping that I will be able to see her once more on the way back down so we can catch up on summer news..

Bestest Friends..

I was met at the airport by Brett, Tom, Lauren, Mom and Dad, it was amazing to see them and SO NICE to be home.

Quick update

Hey! It's Final exam time here at SGU and the stress is HIGH. LOL... Make or break time here in the next week as most of my finals are worth 40-50 percent of the class. I have found the best study spot so I'm not too upset that I won't be seeing much daylight :) There is a building called the Histology/Pathology lab that is supposed to be for med students, it's subarctic so I can get cozy in my sweatshirt from home, put on headphones and enjoy the amazingly comfy chairs (not lecture hall chairs!). I have to laugh, my friend alyssa had the cutest post it note in her room. I can vouch for the fact that the freshman 15 happens during exam time because we all eat constantly -stress and boredom, not hunger!



Also, in a moment of self discovery I have morphed... i think i may like it better?

Unfortunately I've had an insanely sore throat the past week that has just started clearing up. Luckily, last sunday I had an excursion of a lifetime to make up for it. Went with friends Megan and Haley to Levera to see the Sea Turtles:) It was an amazing road trip accross the island to levera beach. The turtles were absolutely amazing, we saw 12 come up and lay eggs. They are so much bigger then I had anticipated! They are about five feet long with front flippers that are almost a meter! As part of a conservation effort, ocean spirits, the organization we went with, helps turtles by counting the eggs that were layed and moving them if the nest that has been dug is not in an appropriate spot and covering nesting sites with sand to prevent poachers and other animals from finding the eggs. It was an all nighter adventure and hopefully I will have the opportunity to go again next year:) Here are some picts of the event!

Update

So sorry about the lack of updates. School has been super busy with extra projects which I have just finished. All that remains between me and going home for the summer is final exams which are at the beginning of May. I have really been enjoying having the car and have been taking advantage of the extra freedom by cruising around the island and exploring when time permits. I will be attempting to post lots of pictures in the next week to make up for my blog laziness:) Hope everyone is doing well and talk to all y'all soon!
